Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 12/30/09: Rise from the Dead Edition (Plus, a New Poll!)

Hello again Poptropicans,

So, today, the Creators have given us yet another update after this extended 1 week absence. This time, it’s about the island we all have been begging for: Reality TV! Dr. Hare did promise updates on the island, so apparently it hasn’t been abandoned after all. Besides, it was decided by a poll, so we’d feel kind of ripped off that our choice of an island never happened. Anyway, this post is titled “Back to Reality”.

Well after much vacationing, I have again returned to Reality TV Island. I heard the local grocery store had some good donuts, I just don’t know which kind to get.

COMIC KID

So, some randomness regarding TV this time around. Also, if you haven’t noticed, this is the first Reality TV post not involving either reality show contestants or TVs. We’re going through right now the same randomness as when we first heard of Counterfeit a month ago right now, so maybe we’ll even be able to play Reality TV Island before March. I’m hopeful, although my expectations are a bit lowered for this island after seeing how great Counterfeit Island is.

Also, there’s a poll on what your favorite game on Poptropica is, so be sure to vote in that.

So, until next time,

Counterfeit Island in Early Access Release!

Yes, the time is here, kinda. Poptropica’s newest island, Counterfeit Island, has been put out on limited release. You can access this island before anyone else for 500 Poptropica credits! Plus, if you beat the island before January 3rd, the public release date, you get 200 of those Poptropica credits back, rather than the usual 100! I’ve used up all 5 of my account’s credits on stuff, and even Fierce Sky’s broke, so if you have any screenshots or information on the island, we’ll gladly post your pictures or walkthroughs for others.

Here’s the official blog post, titled "Poptropica’s Newest Island is Now Available!"

Can you foil the thief who is out to steal some of the world’s most famous artwork? Be among the first to explore and solve the mystery plaguing Counterfeit Island!
You can play right now with the Early Access Pass! It’s available in the Poptropica Store for 500 credits. Ask a parent to
buy credits or earn them by solving other islands.
We’re offering 200 FREE CREDITS to Poptropicans that complete Counterfeit Island during the Early Access period.

Counterfeit Island will be available to the public in January 2010. For those of you expecting Reality TV Island…Stay tuned. And don’t forget to sign up for the next island release alert.

DR. HARE

The official date listed on the website is January 3rd, 2010. Also, they have confirmed that Reality TV Island hasn’t been abandoned after all. Thank you, Poptropica.

Over my winter vacation I’m going to try to beat a bunch of islands again and get this early pass myself, but I’m excited to hear what you all think of the island.

I’m going to do a 2009 Poptropica Wrap-Up Post very soon, where I’ll review what’s happened in the past year for Poptropica, and issue my wishes for next year. If you want some of your comments in that special post, be sure to comment on any of my posts, preferably this one, to tell me what you’d like Poptropica to do next year, and what you thought of this past Poptropica year.

So, until next time,

P.S. Fierce Sky’s Header Contest is ending in 10 days! Make sure to finish up your headers as soon as possible, and to email them to fiercesky@yahoo.com along with the attached header. I am pleased with some of my entries so far. But, there’s still time to get your own artwork on my site, and maybe some other surprises I’ll give to you as well. Enter now!

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 12/9/09: Awkward… Edition

Hello again Poptropicans,

First off, I’d like to apologize for not posting on the last Creators’ Blog post. I didn’t feel it was that important, and didn’t think many of you cared about store items that much. If you are angry with me about that, I am sorry. I will add more polls soon getting your feedback on what I should do with the blog.

So, Master Mime has made his 2nd Creators’ Blog post. This one’s called “Counterfeit Island Gate Keeper”.

Here is some concept art for Counterfeit Island. Watch out for the Gatekeeper! You will only like him when he’s…crazy.

So… yeah… it looks like whatever that thing is is the “gatekeeper” of Counterfeit island. I don’t know what you say, but I say that think looks a little… awkward… if you know what I mean…

Now, getting a little off-topic regarding Poptropica: My favorite Club Penguin blogger, Watex, has returned! I’ve posted about him months and months ago, and he has finally “risen from the dead”. Help support his new Club Penguin blog by going here to his new(ish) site: http://clubpenguintools.wordpress.com/ I’ve been following him since 2007, and he’s the one who introduced me to WordPress in the first place, so basically, me posting right now is due to him. Show him some support, and check out his revived blog!

So, that’ll do it for today. Until next time,

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 12/1/09: Comic Kid’s Getaway Edition

Well, hello again Poptropicans,

What do you know, another Counterfeit Island update for all of us to enjoy! This one is yet another by Comic Kid, and is called “A little getaway”.

While exploring more of Counterfeit Island, I saw a quaint little cottage just outside of town, that would be a great vacationing spot.

COMIC KID

Shown seems to be a stone cottage, possibly an old house that you have to explore. I can’t come up with anything else, although the outlines of trees in the background suggest a forest.

Hooray, more Counterfeit Island randomness for us all to ponder about until the island is released. I really have no idea how this fits into the island. You have any ideas? Comment!

Until next time,

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 11/24/09: Binary SCREAM! Edition

Hello Poptropicans,

First, I’d like to apologize for the delay in this post. I was very busy yesterday with finishing up my remaining schoolwork before Turkey Day, so I didn’t have time to make the post.

Anyway, yesterday’s post was titled “Now this is what I call art!” Notice how Binary Bard is the only one that doesn’t capitalize each word in his title? …Anyway…

BINARY BARD

Those numbers mean “thescream” in binary code, which is the name of the painting that the Bard is standing in front of. I am assuming this may or may not be a counterfeit piece of art, but this is definitely from Counterfeit Island. Not much debate over that.

If there is a Creators’ Blog post tomorrow, I probably won’t post about that either, due to Thanksgiving. I am going to the parade in New York tomorrow as well as a Thanksgiving dinner with my family, so I will have no time to post.

Have a happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you!

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 11/23/09

So, after a 4-day posting break on the Creators’ Blog, there is yet another update to the newly announced Counterfeit Island. This one might actually relate to the word “Counterfeit” in the island’s name. It’s called “At The Station”.

You don’t want to be on the wrong side of those bars!

avatar image
DR. HARE

So, looks like Dr. Hare is joining the Counterfeit party. It shows what looks like a sheriff’s office, with a poster above the desk reading “Stolen Painting – Thomas Jefferson”. This may relate to a counterfeit art piece being replaced by it so far. This is the first real clue as to the actual plot of Counterfeit Island, although the rest of the pieces still don’t seem to fit. Looks like we’ll just have to wait this one out a bit longer for some more details.

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 11/19/09: Tiger Shark Boy Edition

Hello Poptropicans,

So, today we have yet another new Creators’ blog post, the third day in a row of them. This post is called “New Store Stuff!” Quite an original name.

We are crazy busy working on some really awesome Poptropica islands, but we found time to add two more outfits to the Poptropica Store…the Tiger Shark and Swan Ballerina!

avatar image
SHARK BOY

If you noticed, Shark Boy changed his avatar for this post. You may see that he’s still the same on all the others, so it’s not permanent or anything.

Anyway, this means that you can spend money on a tiger shark and swan ballerina (whatever that is) costume. I think the tiger shark costume looks pretty cool, although that’s probably just because it’s orange, and I like orange.

This post also leaves a few hints about other stuff. Shark Boy mentions how the team is “crazy busy working on some really awesome Poptropica islands”. Yeah, that’s right, islands. Island in the plural form. Multiple islands. ISLANDS! This means that the creators are working on more than one island right now. We know that Counterfeit is one, but what’s the other? Was Reality TV Island not abandoned at all? Are there other islands that they’re working on that we haven’t heard of yet? This is probably the first time that an update to Poptropica costumes got me excited! Reality TV might still be… ALIVE!!!

I thank you, Mr. Shark Boy, for making my day.

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update 11/18/09: Master Scooter Edition

Another new update to the Poptropica Creators’ was posted today. The creators sure have been busy lately with this new Counterfeit Island. In addition, this post was posted by a creator we’ve never seen before. If you haven’t noticed, every new island has a new creator for it, and it looks like Counterfeit Island’s designated creator is named “Master Mime”. I’ll discuss more on him later. Anyway, this post is titled “Scooter Chase”.

You will get to zip through Counterfeit Island on a cool scooter. Wheeeeeeeeee!

avatar image
MASTER MIME

This post also marks the third creator to confirm Counterfeit Island. From this post, we can safely assume that players of Counterfeit Island will be riding on scooters.

Also, now I’m starting to wonder if this Counterfeit Island really is the rumored French Island that was first posted about on December 8th, 2008. This mime is wearing a beret, much like the girl in the picture in yesterday’s post. In addition to le thème du Français, more complete randomness is added to this mysterious French Island. First a Jazz Cafe, then fishing boat, then a security guard, construction worker and French girl, and now a French mime and a guy on a scooter. The only connection I see right now is French. All the rest seem almost completely unrelated. Which means, now we wait for yet another update to clarify what Counterfeit Island really is about.

Until next time,

Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update (Finally!) 11/9/09

So, 11 days after posting about the complete waste of Poptropica SkinIts, the Poptropica Creators FINALLY released a new update, which also happens to be one that we can care about. This post also happens to be Comic Kid’s first post in 3 1/2 months. Thank you for saving us all from bad retail items, Comic Kid!

Anyway, this post is titled “Return of Comic Kid, and New Island?”. Yes, now is the time to get excited.

Well, I’m finally back after a long trip of searching out new islands in Poptropica. I even had time to grab some hot chocolate along the way.

avatar image
COMIC KID

There is a sign in the top-right corner that says “JAZZ Cafe”. The picture is also titled “jazz_time”. This possible new island that Comic Kid is referring to probably hasn’t had any other updates besides this one. This could be part of a Jazz, or even a music island. If it is a music island, it could also be the first Poptropica Island with sound in it! If this really is a music island, I am all for it, just as long as it doesn’t delay Reality TV Island any more

Also, a little side note from me: I will NOT post about advertisements on Poptropica. These happen too often, and I feel that each one is too unimportant to be posted for each one. I will NOT do advertisement walkthroughs, and usually won’t mention them in posts at all. If you care about the advertisements, I would refer you to other Poptropica blogs, because this one won’t post about them. If you care about them that much, post some persuasive comments on this post, and if there is enough support, I will post them. Although, because of my previous findings, most of you don’t care about the ads anyway. Keep in mind that this is still your blog, so if you disagree with anything I do, feel free to leave a comment.

Speaking of comments, if you have anything to say at all about this post, post a comment on here, and if I like your comment well enough, I will post it on here.

Until next time,

New Poptropica Creators’ Blog Update

Hello once again, world,

So, today the Poptropica Creators (Shark Boy, to be more specific) posted a new useless update to the blog, on yet another wasteful item, using your parent’s hard-earned money, Poptropica Electronics skins, via SkinIt!

Poptropica has teamed up with skinit.com to get skins for all kinds of devices – laptops, cell phones, mp3 players, and more! Check it out!

avatar image
SHARK BOY

Yeah… I’d like to pass on the offer to “Check it out!”, thank you very much. The website, if you actually choose to “Check it out!”, looks like this:

poptropica skinit

Choosing the “Click Here to Get Started” link on the page brings you to the skin choices: Astro-Knights: Binary Bard, Astro-Knights: Laughing Boy, Astro-Knights: Princess Castle, Shark Tooth Island: Shark Boy, Spy Island: Director D, Super Power Island: Ned Noodlehead, and Time Tangled Island: Aztec Boy.

Choosing one of the skins gives you a choice of either phones, laptops, netbooks, MP3 players, gaming devices, Bluetooth headsets, calculators, camcorder, desktops, digital cameras, digital photo frames, DVD players, external hard drives, medical devices, musical instruments, PDAs, printers, internet routers, USB drives, and USB modems. The prices vary on phones, laptops are around $30, $15 for an iPod, $30 for an Xbox, $40 for a Wii with one Wiimote, $15 for a DS Lite, DSi, PSP, or PSP Go!, $25 for a Guitar Hero III controller, and $15 for a medical pill dispenser! There are many more, so if you express any interest at all of buying a laminated sticky piece of paper for $15+, check out the website, right here.

Also, according to the SkinIt.com website, Poptropica only gets 10% of the profit from every purchase of each of their skins. That means SkinIt, a company you’ve probably never heard of until this day, gets 9 out of every $10 you spend on a skin. If you actually want to help Poptropica with their funding, buy one of the items directly from the Poptropica Store. That way, they can annoy us less by releasing new products EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

Anyway, if you have any comments on this post at all, or wish to simply take all your anger out on me, post a comment, and I might just include it in this post.

Until next time,

-Fierce Sky
